Hempcrete is a building material composed of water, lime, hemp hurd. It is utilized as an all-in-one insulative infill material to replace the exterior walls (the building envelope) of conventional stick-frame homes.

What’s wrong with traditional building?

  • Too Complex

As regulations & expectations increase, so does the complexity of traditionally built homes. It is not uncommon to see 9 of more wall layers used in new builds all in place to achieve a unique result.

  • Ineffective Over Time

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. The goal has been to essentially sterilize the interior or our dwellings by preventing all air & moisture penetration from the outside world. The problem arises WHEN these systems fail, resulting in poor air quality, mold problems, and potential structural failures over time.

  • More Harm Than Good

We spend more than 90% of our time indoors. This is a problem because many of the materials within the walls of our homes have been show to cause significant health issues for its occupants after prolonged exposure.

Why Hempcrete?

Hempcrete is such a simple material that the benefits are sometimes overlooked. If you review the benefits below, it is clear to see that nature does it best.

  • High thermal performance = Highly efficient homes

  • Mold resistant / Fire resistant / termite resistant

  • Superior indoor air quality (IAQ): No toxic chemicals used in wall construction means healthier homes.

  • Carbon Capture: Hemp homes can store more carbon than they create

  • Cost-effective compared to traditionally built homes

This is one of our base panels that is the primary panel used for building an assembly getting moved by forklift to finish a test assembly setup!

A batch of SHIPs (Structural Hemp-Insulated Panel) ready for installation

Right after the removal of form boards hempcrete walls can stand on their own and are quite visually appealing.

Some of our panels are ready for set up on our test assembly.
